ESTEREX™ technology employs the FIBER FILM® Contactor as the mass transfer device and utilizes acid as the treating reagent to remove neutral and acidic ester compounds from alkylation reactor product streams.

ESTEREX™ technology was first licensed in 2000 and to date Merichem has granted one unit operating license. The non-dispersive FIBER FILM® Contactor achieves reduced capital expenditure and less plant space requirements compared to most treating alternatives, making ESTEREX™ the technology-of-choice.
