FIBER- FILM™ Contactor Oxidation Processes
Merichem’s engineers have combined the caustic extraction advantages of FIBER-FILM™ Contactor technology with catalytic oxidation techniques to further enhance the wide applicability of this outstanding technology.
- MERICATSM
- Liquid-liquid contact incorporating caustic, air and catalyst to oxidize mercaptans in light, heavy and full-range virgin and cracked naphthas. Merichem specifies ARI-100EXL.
- MERICAT IISM
- Combination of liquid-liquid and solid-bed contact using caustic, air, catalyst and carbon to oxidize heavy mercaptans in jet fuel and middle distillate streams.
- ECOMERICATSM
- Combination of MERICATSM and phenolic caustic treatment.
- REGENSM with Gravity Separation
- Catalytic oxidation of mercaptide-rich caustic followed by gravity separation of disulfide oil in order to reuse the caustic in mercaptan extraction systems.
- REGENSM with Solvent Wash
- Catalytic oxidation of mercaptide-rich caustic followed by solvent washing with a FIBER-FILM™ Contactor for complete disulfide oil removal in order to reuse the caustic in mercaptan extraction systems. Catalytic caustic oxidation know-how in combination with solvent extraction promotes safe, economical regeneration of spent caustic in this application of the REGENSM system.

Merichem has also developed complementary processes that permit the reuse or safe disposal of spent caustic streams.
- MERICONSM
- Partial or total wet air oxidation of sulfidic or mixed spent caustics or neutralization of phenolic, naphthenic or mixed spent caustics to reduce BOD, COD, reactive sulfur, impurities, organics and odor before transfer to the waste water treating facilities for plant effluent.
