Merichem Announces Companywide Transformation Focused On Global Technologies, Customers, Innovation

Organization simplified to three business units—Merichem Process Technologies, Merichem Gas Technologies and Merichem Caustic Services; Currie leads as chairman and CEO, Hickey named president

HOUSTON, July 1, 2010—Merichem Company, a global leader in hydrocarbon treating technology and byproduct management services, today formally re-launched the 65-year-old company as a technology solutions partner, committed to better serving customers with new and innovative technologies globally.

The company’s product divisions have been reorganized into three business units—Merichem Process Technologies, Merichem Gas Technologies and Merichem Caustic Services. Merichem will continue to provide FIBER FILM®, LO CAT® and several other leading proprietary technologies, while focusing on developing the next generation of diversified products and services for a wide range of operations, including the refining and petrochemicals industry. Merichem currently has more than 1,000 licensed process units worldwide.

In addition to sulfur removal technologies, Merichem is the industry leader in managing the beneficial reuse of refining caustic streams. Merichem chemical offerings include oxidation catalysts, naphthenic acid and derivatives, and soda chemicals.

Merichem Process Technologies, led by Vice President Tom Varadi, has been providing key proprietary refinery treating technologies, many based on the FIBER FILM® technology, for more than 35 years.

Merichem Gas Technologies, led by Vice President Gary J. Nagl, provides proprietary solutions for the removal of H2S and other impurities from a wide range of gas applications.

Merichem Caustic Services, led by Vice President Gordon C. Kato, provides the beneficial-reuse option for refinery caustics, including the production of naphthenic acids. Merichem Company has been involved with refinery caustics for several decades.
