Merichem Awarded US Patents 7,875,185 and 7,951,353
Houston, Texas - August 16, 2011 - Merichem is proud to announce the addition of two new patents to its portfolio that now contains 21 active patents. The awarding of US patent 7,875,185 and US patent 7,951,353 clearly demonstrates Merichem’s dedication to continuously improving its technologies, products, and services to increase value for its customers.
US patent 7,875,185 expands the capabilities of Merichem’s REGEN® ULS technology, which uses new FIBER FILM® patented technology to achieve Ultra Low Sulfur levels in LPG product by reducing disulfide oil (DSO) like no other. With lower capital costs and a smaller footprint, this next-generation technology enhances profitability of downstream LPG processing.
US patent 7,951,353 is an improvement to Merichem’s LO CAT® process for the removal of H2S from virtually any gas stream. This improvement expands the flexibility and allows for increased optimization of Merichem’s previously patented autocirculation flow scheme, which is used primarily for processing acid gas components (CO2 and H2S) removed from natural gas by amine treaters. The LO CAT process removes and destroys the H2S, allowing the cleansed CO2 to be safely vented. The autocirculation flow scheme does not require mechanical pumps, resulting in significant savings in both capital cost and operating expense.
Merichem Company provides a diversified portfolio of products and services to a wide range of operations, including the refining and petrochemicals industries. With more than 1,000 licensed process units worldwide, Merichem is the leader in licensing patented process technologies and supplying proprietary equipment to provide hydrocarbon treating solutions and by-product management services that remove sulfur and other impurities from hydrocarbon liquids and gases in the upstream and downstream energy sectors.
