LO CAT® UNIT IN HAYNESVILLE SHALE GAS PLAY DEMONSTRATES FLEXIBILITY AND SUCESSFULLY REMOVES HYDROGEN SULFIDE AT 99.83% EFFICIENCY
Schaumburg, Illinois – September 2011 - Merichem Company, a global leader in hydrocarbon-treating technology, chemical, and byproduct-management solutions, has successfully integrated the LO CAT® hydrogen sulfide removal technology into a leading natural gas producer’s shale gas treating facility in Louisiana.
This application is the first of several LO CAT units that are currently being installed in the Haynesville Shale Gas Play, which is characterized by large amine acid gas volumes, very dilute hydrogen sulfide concentrations, and required sulfide removal efficiencies exceeding 99.8%.
These installations are part of a broader initiative to introduce a suite of new and advanced technologies, products, and services aimed at making hydrocarbon processing more effective at lower costs. The LO CAT unit, designed for an H2S inlet = 7200 ppmv and H2S outlet < 10 ppmv, demonstrated their flexibility when the actual H2S inlet was only 3000 ppmv. The LO CAT unit produced an H2S output of 5 ppmv, a 99.83% removal efficiency.
Installations such as this are licensed to leading midstream energy service providers and natural gas producers and demonstrate Merichem’s commitment to understanding the unique needs of our customers and reinforce the LO CAT technology as a flexible, industry-proven technology for removing hydrogen sulfide from sour gas streams.
Merichem Company provides a diversified portfolio of products and services to a wide range of operations, including the refining and petrochemicals industries. With more than 1,000 licensed process units worldwide, Merichem is the leader in licensing patented process technologies and supplying proprietary equipment to provide hydrocarbon treating solutions and by-product management services that remove sulfur and other impurities from hydrocarbon liquids and gases in the upstream and downstream energy sectors.
