Merichem Company, a global partner serving the oil and gas industries with focused technology, chemicals, and service solutions, announced today that it has acquired Kenox Technology Corporation’s Wet Air Oxidation (WAO) process technology for an undisclosed sum.
"The acquisition further enhances Merichem’s MERICON™ technology portfolio for spent caustic treatment," said Ms. Kendra Lee, Merichem Chairman and CEO. MERICON units are already licensed globally to petroleum refiners and petrochemical producers. “We believe that the Wet Air Oxidation technology process is a natural fit within the MERICON suite of technologies allowing extension across multiple markets beyond refining and petrochemical, into industrial applications and municipal waste segments.” said Lee.
Merichem Company provides a diversified portfolio of products and services to a wide range of operations, including the refining and petrochemicals industries. With more than 1,000 licensed process units worldwide, Merichem is the leader in licensing patented process technologies and supplying proprietary equipment to provide hydrocarbon treating solutions and by-product management services that remove sulfur and other impurities from hydrocarbon liquids and gases in the upstream and downstream energy sectors.
Merichem Company announced today that Mr. Sagar Patel has joined the company as Sales Director for the Merichem Gas Technologies business unit reporting to Mr. Dennis J. Bellville, Vice President and General Manager. Mr. Patel’s responsibilities include the global leadership for all Sales and Business Development activities in support of the LO-CAT hydrogen sulfide (H2S) removal technology.
Prior to joining Merichem, Mr. Patel held key sales and sales leadership roles at UOP, ABB, Invensys and Yokogawa. Most recently, he acted as National sales director for Yokogawa (USA) and made significant contributions to business growth since 2010.
"We are thrilled to add Sagar to our team” said Dennis Bellville. “We are confident he will grow the business from its strong foundation to the next level through his experience and industry knowledge.”
Mr. Patel holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology.
Merichem Company has completed a Process Engineering Package for a major Texas refiner to decrease sulfur in their Light Cat Naptha stream to meet Tier 3 gasoline standards of 10 ppm effective January 1, 2017. This approach illustrates a proven cost effective solution to remove sulfur compounds from naptha or butane streams to meet the more stringent Tier 3 gasoline product specifications. Merichem’s technologies, THIOLEX™ and REGEN™, were chosen to extract mercaptans from the refinery feed stocks. These technologies utilize Merichem’s non-dispersive, highly efficient FIBER FILM™ Contactor technology to facilitate caustic-hydrocarbon contact to reduce sulfur and COS.”
FIBER FILM Contactor based processes have been licensed worldwide and successfully applied to treating problems throughout the hydrocarbon processing industry. One of the most common applications for FIBER FILM Contactors is in caustic treatment, an essential part of hydrocarbon processing for LPG and jet fuel impurity removal.
The highly effective FIBER FILM technologies, coupled with modules that are easy to install, cost-effective, and quick to market, make Merichem the refiners’ choice for caustic, amine and acid treating processes.
