As the production of molten sulfur increases, the uses of sulfur are bringing new handling and storage issues to facilities that did not historically have them. Increasing regulations on the emissions of hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide as a combustion product of H2S, are forcing facilities that produce and handle molten sulfur to treat emissions from their sulfur storage and transfer facilities in a way that does not produce SO2 emissions. Fortunately, Merichem provides a viable options for the treatment of these vent streams. The first application of the LO CAT® technology at a molten sulfur storage tank vent was started up in 1996.
