Research Engineer or Senior Research Engineer: FTC09-0035

MCRS has an immediate need for a Research Engineer to provide project leadership and direct hands-on technical support for assigned research projects. This includes executing development project according to Merichem Stage-Gate Process. Provide platform leadership for Merichem process technologies. Develop work plans and experimental programs. Conduct literature and intellectual property searches. Oversee design, assembly and operation of laboratory equipment, ensure high quality data were obtained, interpret the results of experiments, and communicate them through formal reports. Function within established safety and chemical hygiene programs. Supervise laboratory technicians when assigned.

Experience Required:

• Proven experience of independently designing and executing experimental programs
• Proven experience of problem solving and functioning in cross-organizational teams
• Demonstrated creativity and innovativeness
• Experience with design of experimentation and statistical analysis
• Proven supervisory experience

Qualifications Required:

• PhD in Chemical Engineering
• A minimum of five years in oil refining and gas processing industrial research
• Excellent written and oral communications skills

• Project technical memos
• Stage Gate technology assessment reports
• Conference reports
• Monthly project update reports
• General Requirements:
• Reside in Houston, TX
• Must be willing to work outside regular hours
• Travel as required, up to 20%,domestic or international

• Operational experience of oil refining and gas processing technologies

• Knowledge of intellectual property development strategy
