Research Scientist—FTC
Seeking a PhD in Organic Chemistry required with 5+ year’s post-graduate experience to lead development and growth projects, provide direct hands-on technical support, serve as platform leadership on organic chemistry within Merichem. This includes executing development project according to Merichem Stage-Gate Process. Develop work plans and experimental programs. Conduct literature and intellectual property searches. Oversee design, assembly and operation of laboratory equipment, ensure high quality data were obtained, interpret the results of experiments, and communicate them through formal reports. Function within established safety and chemical hygiene programs. Supervise laboratory technicians when assigned. Expertise in organic reaction chemistry required. Must be familiar with common organic laboratory equipment and with common analytical equipment, such as UV, IR, LC, GC, Mass Spec, NMR. Must have excellent interpersonal skills including communication skills both written and verbal. Experience related to chelating chemistry, sulfur removal, refining, or gas processing is strongly desired. General experience in the fuels industry would be advantageous.
Qualifications
- PhD. in organic chemistry, with 5+ years of industrial research experience
- Must be an expert in organic reaction chemistry
- Must be familiar with common organic laboratory synthesis equipment and with common analytical equipment, such as UV, IR, LC, GC, Mass Spec, NMR
- Must be technically computer literate.
- Experience related to chelating chemistry, sulfur removal, refining, or gas processing

General
- Work in R&D, at the John T. Files Research Center in Houston, TX
